Abstract: Historical Overview of Commerce and Early E-Commerce Commerce, in its most fundamental sense, refers to the exchange of goods and services between individuals, groups, or institutions. Over centuries, the mechanisms of commerce have undergone profound transformation. What began as simple, localized barter interactions evolved into sophisticated international trade networks, and eventually into the digital ecosystems that dominate today’s economic landscape.
