LEVERAGING ITI INFRASTRUCTURE FOR MSME DEVELOPMENT: A SUSTAINABLE MODEL FOR VOCATIONAL TRAINING AND PRODUCTION

Abstract

Abstract: India's Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) form the backbone of the economy, contributing significantly to GDP and employment. However, MSMEs often struggle with access to skilled labor and appropriate infrastructure. Simultaneously, Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), spread across the country, remain underutilized despite having technical infrastructure, trained faculty, and workshop space. This paper proposes a sustainable model that leverages existing ITI infrastructure to support MSME growth through dual-use facilities for vocational training and micro-production. The study examines policy synergies, practical frameworks for implementation, and case studies that highlight the benefits of this collaboration. A strategic integration of ITIs and MSMEs can enhance skill development, promote entrepreneurship, and boost local economies in a sustainable and inclusive manner.
