BUILDING CLIMATE RESILIENCE THROUGH ECOSYSTEM-BASED ADAPTATION: A REVIEW OF WETLAND RESTORATION AND SUSTAINABLE LAND MANAGEMENT
Abstract
Climate change poses significant risks to ecosystems, human livelihoods, and biodiversity worldwide. Ecosystem-Based Adaptation (EbA) offers a sustainable approach to building resilience against climate impacts by leveraging the natural functions of ecosystems. This paper reviews the role of wetland restoration and sustainable land management practices as critical EbA strategies. It examines their effectiveness in enhancing climate resilience, mitigating greenhouse gases, protecting biodiversity, and supporting local communities. Challenges and future research directions are also discussed.
