PHARMACOVIGILANCE AND ADVERSE DRUG REACTIONS: A STUDY ON REPORTING SYSTEMS IN INDIA
Abstract
Pharmacovigilance plays a crucial role in ensuring drug safety by identifying, assessing, and preventing adverse drug reactions (ADRs). In India, the Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PvPI) has been established to strengthen the ADR monitoring system. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of ADR reporting systems in India, challenges faced by healthcare professionals, and strategies to improve pharmacovigilance practices. The findings highlight the need for increased awareness, training, and technological advancements to enhance ADR reporting and patient safety.
