CURRENT TRENDS IN CANCER CHEMOTHERAPY AND TARGETED THERAPY
Abstract
Cancer treatment has evolved significantly with the advancement of chemotherapy and targeted therapy. Traditional chemotherapy, while effective, often lacks specificity, leading to systemic toxicity and adverse effects. Recent trends focus on precision medicine, immunotherapy, and molecularly targeted drugs that selectively attack cancer cells while minimizing damage to healthy tissues. Developments such as monoclonal antibodies, small molecule inhibitors, and immune checkpoint inhibitors have revolutionized cancer therapy. Additionally, nanotechnology-based drug delivery systems and combination therapies are enhancing treatment efficacy and reducing resistance. This paper explores the latest advancements, challenges, and future directions in cancer chemotherapy and targeted therapy. Keywords: Cancer chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy, precision medicine, monoclonal antibodies, small molecule inhibitors, immune checkpoint inhibitors, nanotechnology, drug resistance, combination therapy.
