EXPLORING NANOMATERIALS: AN IN-DEPTH EXAMINATION OF UTILIZATIONS, ECOLOGICAL CONSEQUENCES, AND ENVIRONMENTAL FATE
Abstract
The contemporary age is often referred to as the nanotechnology era, marked by the remarkable significance of nanomaterials in the realms of technology, engineering, and medical advancements. These materials are highly prized for their versatile physical, chemical, and biological attributes, which set them apart from their bulk counterparts. The classification of nanomaterials is based on various factors including size, shape, composition, origin, and potential toxicity. With the ever-expanding utility and industrial applications of nanomaterials, it has become imperative to delve into their toxicity and the associated environmental risks. This comprehensive review critically examines the diverse applications, behaviors, and adverse effects on humans, animals, and the surrounding environment. Additionally, it delves into the fate and challenges surrounding nanomaterials, and outlines the future prerequisites for crafting secure nanotechnology, promoting sustainable development. Keywords: Nanotechnology, Health, Environment, Toxicity.
