Abstract

Interest in digital image processing stems from two major application areas. Enhancing image information for human interpretation. Processing of image data for storage, transmission and display for autonomous machine perception. The purpose of this article is to define the meaning and scope of image processing, explain the various steps and methods of typical image processing, and describe the application of image processing tools and processes at the forefront of research.
