Abstract

Prior to the Partition accompanied by the Indian Independence, Urdu was the language of the daily interaction and communication of the masses in India, which played a prominent role in all the periods of historical crisis in Indian subcontinent. Patriotism and attempt to maintain communal harmony, and national integration in the country of diverse ethnicity have been the significant themes in Urdu poetry. Therefore, being interested in English–Urdu literatures, I, in collaboration with one of my research scholars have made an attempt to put light briefly on this aspect of Urdu poetry. Keywords: Urdu Poets, Patriotism, Nationalism, National Integration, Communal Harmony, Role of Poetry.
