“CHALLENGES IN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF INTEGRATED MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS COMPRISING ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, AND ISO 45001:2018 STANDARDS IN MANUFACTURING INDUSTRIES”
Abstract
Purpose: This research paper explores the challenges faced by manufacturing industries in the implementation of integrated management systems (IMS) that incorporate ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018 standards. The primary purpose is to identify and analyze the obstacles hindering the successful integration of these management systems and to provide insights into potential solutions. Methodology: A comprehensive mixed-methods approach is employed, incorporating qualitative and quantitative research methods. Case studies are conducted in diverse manufacturing settings to gather real-world insights. Surveys, interviews, and document analysis are utilized to collect data, allowing for a holistic examination of the challenges faced during IMS implementation. Findings: The research reveals a myriad of challenges in the integration of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards within manufacturing industries. Common obstacles include conflicting requirements, organizational resistance, resource constraints, and difficulty in aligning the diverse objectives of quality, environmental sustainability, and occupational health and safety. The findings contribute to a nuanced understanding of these challenges and their implications for successful IMS implementation. Practical Implications: The practical implications of this research are crucial for manufacturing industry practitioners, policymakers, and consultants involved in IMS implementation. By identifying and addressing the challenges highlighted in this study, organizations can enhance their IMS effectiveness, streamline processes, and optimize resource utilization. This research offers actionable insights to improve the overall integration of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards in manufacturing settings. Originality: This research contributes original insights by comprehensively examining the challenges specific to the integration of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards in manufacturing industries. The study goes beyond the individual standards and explores the synergies and conflicts that arise when implementing an integrated approach. This original perspective adds value to the existing body of knowledge on IMS implementation.
