PATRIARCHY IN INDIAN SOCIETY

Abstract

“One is not born of woman, but has made one.”- Simon de Beaviour Patriarchies a mindset which establishes dominance on the conduct of women. The core of patriarchy has been to exhibit dominance over the females by males. This dominance ex-hibited translates into setting boundaries on what a particular gender can do and cannot do. The Urban Female Participation Rate fell to 6.9% in November 20 from 7.2% in October 20 (Credit- Economics Times). The society starts to hone these differences from the initial days. Simple and basic things like how the girls play has to be different from the boys. This difference in attitude also extends to impact their basic rights like - access to education. According to Yourarticlelibrary.com only 31% of the girl child in rural India is educated.
