Abstract

Abstract:- Festivals and fairs are a significant part of Indian culture. It is an integral part of the social-cultural life of Indian people. Fairs and festivals are the core of India's social-cultural being specific. Indian festivals are having a massive impact on all sectors, whether it is society, economy, ecology, tourism, and so on. Hence, we could say that the life of Indians revolves around these fairs and festivals. The fairs and festivals could be categorised based on the reason for their celebration which could be of national importance, religion-specific, region-specific, changing of the season, etc. Thus, the cause of these festivals and fairs vary. They have an essence of local culture which attracts people from distant areas. This paper aims to discuss several categories of festivals as well as fairs to reflect the diversity of Indian culture. It gives a detailed description of all the significant festivals and fairs of India. The research paper tries to provide a clear picture of these by classifying them into different groups. Research shows festivals being an essential factor of Indian society make it united rather than divided.
